In the first quarter of 2025, a total of about 132 billion ALL treasury bonds and bonds are expected to be issued. Official data from the Ministry of Finance show that in the January-March period 8.3% fewer government bonds will be issued than in the first quarter of last year.
Specifically, in the month of January, nearly 52 billion ALL government bonds are expected to be issued, where 12-month treasury bonds will be the most frequent and in the highest amounts.
In the emission calendar, it is determined that in the month of January, 2 auctions will be held for 12-month treasury bonds and 1 auction for 3-year, 5-year, 10-year reference bonds and 2-year bonds.
Meanwhile, a new long-term instrument of 20-year bonds will be launched on the market, initially as a test. The auction for the 20-year bonds is scheduled to take place on January 28 with a value of 1.5 billion ALL, while the maturity date will be 2045.
In February, the amount of emissions will be smaller. Even in the second month, the 12-month treasury bonds will be issued twice, while for that year, the 7-year and 15-year bonds are launched for the first time on the market. As for March, the value of the emissions will be 39 billion ALL.
During February and March there will also be several bond reopenings, while the second auction for 20-year bonds will take place on March 19, but this time for a smaller amount of 1 billion ALL.
In total, during the 12 months, a total of 356 billion ALL government bonds will be issued.
During 2024, 12-month bonds had an interest rate of 3.69% in May, to end with a gradual decrease to 3.01% in October this year.
While 2-year Bonds peaked at 4.29% in May 2024, while in October 2024 their rate fell to 3.85%. The last auction of this year for 12-month treasury bonds will take place next week.
