The Durrës-Rrogozhinë train "is coming" in 2028 - Deputy Minister Muçaj gives the deadlines for the works and electrification of the 34 km axis
The rehabilitation and electrification of the Durrës - Rrogozhina railway is expected to be completed in 2028. The deadlines were announced by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enkelejda Muçaj, during discussions of the 60.5 million euro grant agreement from the European Union for this railway project.
The grant is accompanied by a loan of 30 million euros from the European Investment Bank, which will help modernize the 34 km railway line. Meanwhile, for the full implementation of the project, a loan of 30 million euros will be granted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as an integral part of the financing package of 120.5 million euros.
For this reason, at the last government meeting, a draft law was approved for the ratification of the loan agreement, which will also have to be approved by the Parliament. The line will be electrified and brought closer to European Union standards, enabling train travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
