Transformation of the Metallurgical Park - Rama: Elbasan will become part of the country's modern metropolis
A new development plan will be implemented for the city of Elbasan. The transformation of the Metallurgical Park, from an industrial heritage site to a green space, is expected to open new perspectives for the city, turning it into an epicenter of innovation and development.
The presentation was also attended by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, who declared that Elbasan will become part of the country's metropolis.
"We will turn it into a national industrial park, with great potential. We want to rely on an alliance with all the businesses that are here. We have engaged a large number of foreign and local architects to determine the direction of the plan. The territory here is vast and you can develop many things. The basic idea is for this park to become a main destination for everyone and a connecting point between Tirana and Elbasan, integrating the latter into the country's metropolis in the coming decades. There is potential here to expand the capital and give it new energy. The Albanian Investment Corporation will be part of this project and it is very important that the state is present and plans its own investments."
The presentation was also attended by the Minister of State for Local Government, Arbjan Mazniku, who presented details of the project, emphasizing that businesses in this area contribute to 5% of the Gross Domestic Product.
“There will be three main poles of the city's development: at the heart will be the castle, to attract tourists; the car park; and the revitalization of the metallurgical area. There are 53 large businesses here that have a total of 4,902 employees. The annual turnover of companies operating in this area is worth 1 billion euros, or 5% of GDP.”
The presentation of the motor park project, which will also include a race track with international standards, is also expected soon. According to Prime Minister Rama, if the conditions are met to become part of the Formula 1 racing calendar, this project will be the "icing on the cake" for Albania.
