"All Albanians with a digital identification tool" - Prime Minister Rama: It will start at the beginning of 2026
Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the event to present the Digital Identity. The Head of the Executive considered this innovation as “a significant step for Albania on the path towards the technological modernization of social and economic life”.
According to him, at the beginning of next year all Albanian citizens will have a digital identification tool.
"The EU is also preparing for digital identity and the declared objective of the EU is that in 2027 EU citizens can be provided with their digital identity. We will be one step ahead and I emphasize this not to imply or affirm any of our advantages but to remind you that the advantage that technology gives to any country that embraces it and that turns to it to overcome obstacles that are sometimes even historical, is what I personally call a blessing of this time through digital technology ," said Rama.
