Taxes collect 385 million euros in August/9 months, tourism and consumption significantly increase revenues
Thanks to the tourist season and increased consumption, the tax administration has significantly increased the revenues collected in the state budget.
According to data from the General Directorate of Taxes, total revenues realized for the month of August 2025 reached 38.5 billion lek or 385 million euros.
Compared to August 2024, revenues have been exceeded by 24 million euros. Expressed in percentage, the exceedance compared to the previous year is recorded at 6.5%.
While in relation to the planned amount, the increase in income is recorded at 14 million euros.
In the first 8 months, tax revenues reached 188.5 billion lek, an increase of 36.4 billion lek compared to January-August 2024.
Tax revenues include revenues from net VAT in the country, profit tax, personal income tax, national taxes, which have had positive performance throughout the year.
The main weight in the increase has been held by the revenues generated by the Value Added Tax, which also indicates the increasing consumption in the population, followed by the personal income tax, which reflects the increased salaries of the administration and the private sector, as well as the positive effects that the anti-informality reform has had in this regard. Also, the declaration and payment of the DIVA obligation by employees in the country has made an important contribution.
Also, another item that is experiencing progressive growth is related to revenues from special funds, social and health insurance, collected by the Tax Administration, which also reflect the reform of wage increases and the one against their under-declaration.
Profit Tax and National Taxes have also started the year with positive performance in terms of contribution to the state budget.
