"More applications in engineering and informatics"/ Xhelaj: Future

Over 50% of high school graduates have closed their registrations at university branches. In an interview for Scan TV, the head of the Albanian Academic Network, Arjan Xhelaj, listed the programs that have completed their quotas.

"We have three programs that are sold out and they are mainly those programs that have a competition, general medicine and it was 100% realized in the first two phases. Architecture was sold out in terms of the number of quotas, and the one with a competition and the security academy branch was sold out at 100%."

But what is the trend, what are the most coveted majors this academic year?

"The trend is always that of application. Considering that high school graduates apply where they want to enroll. Since it has become a trend since the pandemic, the two largest groupings of studies, which is the field of health, which includes general medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and all other branches, and nursing especially, and the grouping of IT branches, information technology, informatics, various branches, but also engineering branches, these two groupings hold the weight. Both are over 30%. This year we had more applications in informatics and engineering, compared to medicine, but with a minimalist percentage."

According to Xhelaj, this year seems to be showing positive progress, with over 50% of high school graduates having completed the branch registration process.

"We can say that the performance has been good, it may have been one of the best performances in recent years. Given that we have not yet started the middle of the round, we are only in the third phase, and we have just passed 50% of the registrations of high school graduates. Which means that those high school graduates who applied with the A2 form, over 50% have already made their choice. We hope that this performance will continue. In previous years, we have always had a number somewhere above 75% of high school graduates who register at the end of the first round."
