Fire situation in the country/AKMC: 25 fires reported, 4 still active!
The National Civil Protection Agency informed today about the fire situation nationwide and more specifically, during the last 24 hours, 25 fires have been reported, of which 4 are still active.
These fires have been identified in the municipalities of Finiqi, Vlora, Selenica, Elbasan, Përrenjas, Poliçan, Bulqiza, Dibra, Malesia e Madhe, Vau i Dejës, Tirana, Kamza, Vora, Durrës, Kurbin, Pogradec and Korça.
Currently, the fires remain active in the area called "Sotiran" between the villages of Tragjas and Dukat, Orikum administrative unit, Vlora municipality, in an area of bushes and thorns at the height of the mountain. The situation has been monitored overnight. Today, 8 firefighting forces and 7 employees from the Forest Service are operating in the area.
Yesterday, the Air Force Cougar helicopter was deployed in support of the forces. The fire in the village of Zgërbonjë, administrative unit of Vërtop, municipality of Poliçan remains under monitoring. The fire does not pose a risk of spreading.
Work has continued to extinguish the fire in a forest area with pine and juniper trees in the area called "Livadhi i Peladhisë", Zerqan administrative unit, Bulqizë municipality. The terrain is difficult and remote, so work is being done with high-pass vehicles.
In the place called "Lake of Flowers", part of the Lura National Park, Lura administrative unit, Dibër municipality. Although the operational forces worked until late hours, its isolation was not achieved. Today, 7 firefighters, 6 AdZM forces, 5 municipal forces and 25 volunteers are engaged in the field. In support of the forces today, the Air Force helicopter will also operate.
In two cases, fires were recorded in apartments and one in a business building, resulting in significant material damage. As a result of the fires, which mainly affected areas with trees, bushes and grass, approximately 5 hectares of vegetation were burned.
30 firefighting vehicles and 351 personnel were deployed in the firefighting operations. The Armed Forces also participated in yesterday's operations with 59 personnel, 1 helicopter, 5 firefighting vehicles, 1 suction pump, 2 self-unloading vehicles and 1 chain tractor.
Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, a "High" risk level is expected today in almost all regions. Light to locally moderate rainfall is expected today, in the form of thunderstorms in the Shkodra region.
The entire civil protection system continues to monitor the situation and is fully prepared for rapid intervention. In this situation, AKMC calls on all citizens to show maximum responsibility.
