June inflation reaches 2.4%/ Increased tourist demand affects food and service

The Consumer Price Index for June 2025 reached 119.2, taking December 2020 as the reference point. In this period, the annual change in the index was 2.4%, an increase compared to the 2.1% value a year earlier. This rate turns out to be the highest since February of last year.

On the other hand, this situation is directly related to tourism, especially in the summer period when the demand for tourist services, hotels, cafes and restaurants increases significantly.

The annual price increase in June was mainly influenced by the group “Food and non-alcoholic beverages”, which contributed 1.19 percentage points to the increase in the index. Following it, the group “Rent, water, fuel and energy” had a positive impact of 0.36 percentage points. Other smaller impacts were provided by the groups “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” with 0.22 points, “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” with 0.17 points, “Entertainment and culture” with 0.15 points, and “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 0.10 points.

Compared to the same month last year, the largest annual price changes were recorded in the “Entertainment and culture” group with an increase of 6.8%. This group is followed by “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” and “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” with 3.5% increase each. The “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” group increased by 3.0%, while “Clothing and footwear” and “Rent, water, fuel and energy” recorded an increase of 1.8% each. Other increases were observed in “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 1.7%, “Communication” with 1.6%, “Miscellaneous goods and services” with 1.2%, “Educational services” with 0.9% and “Health” with 0.6%. Only the “Transport” group recorded a price decrease of 0.5%.

Within the food group, the subgroups with the highest price increases were “oils and fats” with an increase of 7.6%, “vegetables including potatoes” with 5.3%, “milk, cheese and eggs” with 4.6%, “meat” with 4.0%, “fish” with 2.4% and “fruit” with 1.3%.
