"Fire situation, towards stabilization" - Ministry of Defense: Over 10

During the last 24 hours, 64 fires have been identified, of which 24 are still active. According to the Ministry of Defense, over 10,000 emergency forces, under the coordination of the Civil Protection Agency, are on the ground and the situation is moving towards stabilization.

The extensive firefighting operation has continued uninterrupted throughout the night, aiming to limit the perimeter of the flames near residential areas and national parks across the country. Three helicopters are also operating from the air in Gramsh and two others in Delvina.

The Ministry of Defense announces that in Delvina, the fire that broke out from Syri i Kaltër has engulfed the villages of Pecë, Sirakat and Kardhikaq, reaching the municipality's crown. The flames spread from Vllahati towards Kakodhiq, causing the burning of 5 houses, 4 of which were uninhabited. 36 firefighters with 5 vehicles, 120 troops of the Armed Forces, FNSH, Delta, Shqiponjat forces, local and municipal police, as well as 7 water tankers have been engaged in the operations. The fire has moved over the village of Vllahat, where Czech and Slovak helicopters are intervening from the air.

In Finiq, the fire that has affected the area from Syri i Kaltër to the plateau of Mount Gjerë and Sopot continues to be active. In Bistrica, the fire is being monitored. In Rëzoma Park, above the Skërfica tunnel, the fire continues, but the difficult terrain does not allow intervention.

In Kullollas and the Skënderbegas unit, near Gramsh, the fire has reached large proportions, involving several villages and causing one victim. Damage to homes has been reported. The situation remains serious and air intervention is being carried out. In Mukaj and Sojnik, the fire continues in areas with bushes and thorns, with local forces and the Armed Forces on the ground.

In Hormova, near the Municipality of Tepelena, the danger to homes has been averted, but the work of extinguishing the fire continues. In Turan, the flames have spread towards Lekel and Koder, burning two stables and animals. Firefighters, police, municipal, volunteer and military forces, as well as Czech and Slovak helicopters, have operated on the ground.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the calmest situation regarding fires is in the Shkodër, Tirana, Dibër and Korçë regions.

According to meteorological data, the country is expected to face high temperatures and strong winds, which increases the risk of reactivation and spread of existing fires, as well as the creation of new fires. Authorities call on citizens to avoid any actions that could cause fires and to immediately report any new fires.
