Fire situation, 34 outbreaks in the last 24 hours/ Ministry of Defense: 8

The Ministry of Defense has updated the balance of fire outbreaks in the country. In the last 24 hours, 34 fire outbreaks have been reported, of which 8 are still active and 3 are under monitoring. The most problematic situation has been identified in the regions of Shkodër, Lezhë, Dibër, Elbasan and Gjirokastër.

In the hearth of the fire, in the place called "Maja e Paliskas", above the village of Dukat, there was an improvement in the situation after the intervention of 2 Air Force helicopters. But later in the evening the fire was reactivated. During the night, the hearth was kept under monitoring by the firefighting forces. Today, 40 personnel from the Armed Forces have gone to the field. Air intervention with 1 Air Force helicopter is also expected.

Also, yesterday, a Croatian Canadair aircraft from the European Civil Protection Mechanism intervened in the fire near the Lura National Park, which brought an improvement in the situation in one of the fires. Despite the efforts of the operational forces on the ground, the fire could not be extinguished. Work is continuing again today.

Another problematic fire is in the area called "Përroi i Zi", where yesterday, the intervention of the Croatian Canadair aircraft slowed the spread of flames towards several homes and farms in the area, but high temperatures and strong winds negatively affected the control of the fire, which had a very large perimeter.

During the afternoon hours, there was a strong reactivation of the fire source from the border with Mirdita.

Authorities remain on full alert and are in close cooperation with local and international structures to manage and extinguish the fires. Citizens are urged to immediately report any suspected fires to the relevant authorities.
