Applications open for INSTAT director/ The current head, Elsa Dhuli, will have a 5-year mandate ending in November 2025
The Council of Ministers has announced a call for applications for the position of Director General of the Institute of Statistics. The Director General of INSTAT ensures the professional independence of institutions within the national statistical system and directs its development strategy. He/She leads the coordination of statistical activities of producers within the national statistical system, in accordance with the legislation in force.
The Director General of INSTAT is appointed by the Parliament, upon the proposal of the Council of Ministers, after an open and public selection procedure.
The applicant must meet these criteria: be an Albanian citizen, have full capacity to act, not be convicted by a final decision for committing a crime or for committing a criminal offense intentionally, not have been subject to disciplinary measures of dismissal from public administration institutions, have a scientific degree of "Doctor" in economic or exact sciences, have work experience for a period of no less than 10 (ten) years, and be fluent in English.
According to the announcement of the Council of Ministers, the deadline for submitting applications is August 29, 2025. Applicants who meet the criteria will be subject to a CV assessment and a structured oral interview. The list of candidates who will qualify for the interview phase will be announced by September 22, 2025. Date and place of the interview: by September 30 at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Director General of INSTAT is appointed for a five-year term, with the right to reappointment only once. Currently, this institution is headed by Elsa Dhuli, who was appointed to this position in November 2020. Previously, she was the acting Director General for more than a year.
