Social security, 15.77 billion lek in July - Ministry of Finance: 91 billion lek

In July alone, the General Directorate of Taxes collected 15.77 billion lek from social security contributions, marking a record high. This figure represents an increase of 1.82 billion lek, or about 13%, compared to July of last year.

Likewise, revenues exceed the expectations of the Ministry of Finance by 1.34 billion lek more than the initial forecast.

According to official data from the Ministry of Finance, during the first 7 months of 2025, a total of 91.77 billion lek were collected, which translates to about 917 million euros.

This represents an increase of 10 billion lek compared to the same period a year ago, or 11.25% more.

These record revenues from social contributions are not only indicators of increased employment and formalization, but also serve as a more stable basis for the country's pension scheme.

The more income that is collected from social security, the greater the opportunity to meet the needs of current pensioners and to gradually increase the level of pensions in the future.

The increase in contributions helps reduce the deficit of the social security scheme and gives more breathing space to the state budget. At a time when the population is aging and the ratio between contributors and beneficiaries is narrowing, this positive pace is an encouraging signal for the future of the system.
