How will the number of employees in agriculture change? - Over 468 thousand in 2026, the number of beneficiaries from schemes increases
16.5 million euros will be the additional budget for agriculture throughout 2026. The Albanian government aims to improve competitiveness in the agricultural sector and the agri-food industry through support for agriculture, as well as to improve the quality of life by promoting the diversity of economic activities in rural areas.
In the 2026 draft budget, it is envisaged that through the measures taken, the number of employees in agriculture and agro-processing will increase from 468,249 employees projected in 2026 to 471,697 employees in 2027 and 476,414 in 2028.
Specifically, the aim is to increase the number of beneficiaries of support measures in agriculture. Around 45,300 beneficiaries are expected in 2026, 45,500 beneficiaries in 2027 and 46,000 beneficiaries in 2028.
Of which, for 2026, 15,000 are beneficiaries supported by National Schemes, 30,000 beneficiaries from the Oil Subsidy Scheme for Agriculture and 300 beneficiaries from the Farm Grant Investment Scheme.
The government predicts an increase in the export volume of agricultural and agro-processing products from 58.59 billion lek in 2026 to 59.76 billion lek in 2027 and 62 billion lek in 2028.
On the other hand, during the coming year, increased attention will be paid to the "Food Safety and Consumer Protection" program, which aims to strengthen the control and inspection system, including the entire food chain from farm to fork.
