Albania takes the lead of the International Conference of Information Commissioners

Albania has assumed the Presidency of the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC), a position it will hold until June 2025. At the last meeting of the Executive Committee of the Information Commissioners (ICIC), it was decided that the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, Mr. Besnik Dervishi, would chair this international conference.
Through a notice, the Committee informed Mr. Dervishi about the new role entrusted to him, expressing the highest appreciation for his outstanding capacity and professionalism over these years.
The presidency of this International Conference, attended by over 90 countries from around the world, was previously held by the Mexican Authority for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data.
The International Conference of Information Commissioners first convened in 2003, and the last to host its 15th edition was Albania in June of last year. Germany will host the next meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Berlin in June.
This conference aims to promote the protection and promotion of access to public information as a fundamental pillar for social, economic and democratic governance, share knowledge and best practices, build capacity, help identify what is needed for global progress and act as a common voice in international forums with the aim of improving citizens' right to public information.
