From February 1, a new energy measurement system - Balluku: It will accurately verify consumption. OSHEE adds 120 readers
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, together with OSHEE Administrator Enea Karakaçi and OSSH Administrator Blendian Dalipi, held a meeting with Distribution System Operator employees, in the role of energy readers, to discuss the measures taken and the tasks arising from the new electricity billing scheme.
"We are with another group of employees who are the field readers. A difficult task, which also carries a weight of disputes. There are 870 employees, who will be added with 120 new employees. From February 1, OSHEE will apply a new price of 10.5% less."
According to the OSHEE administrator, fewer complaints regarding bills were received in 2024, compared to 2023.
"In fact, this meeting comes after the initiative taken by the energy sector to reduce the price by 10.5%. We feel proud of the results achieved, and we have motivation for the tasks of 2025. The process has its complications. As of today, the application for 120 new readers has been opened. On February 5, a first phase of the application. We require that they have a high school diploma, and other criteria. We have taken a plan of measures. Reading is an important element, so we are taking measures to digitize it. Smart meters, some additional filters have been installed to protect that category of families that exceed 700 keh consumption. Finally, the work that this company and all structures have undertaken to reduce complaints is very considerable. In 2024 we have 30% fewer complaints for misbilling than in 2023. Your work has its improvements."
But what are the measures taken to make the process of measuring electricity bills as transparent as possible?
"All readers today, when they perform the reading process that we call PDA, through this device we go to the place where the meter is installed. And manually the data is entered into the device, and transmitted to the center. Through the staff, the data entry is processed and the bill is printed. The delicate point is that all readers are present, and no reading is fictitious. Possibility of locating the reader, so that we can verify if it was on the right date and at the moment the reading was made. We have added the operators who enter the data into the system. We have identified all subscribers who are up to 700kWh. Filters have been added and in an automatic way."
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Balluku emphasized that the trilateral agreement between the United Arab Emirates, Albania and Italy will take Albania to another level of electricity transmission.
