Saranda, towards a modern tourist transformation - From Kodra e Gjashtës to government villas. Where are the interventions focused?
The Public Procurement Agency has announced a tender for the "Tourism Development Pole in Saranda - Phase 1", for the transformation of public assets with development potential. But which areas will be subject to this development transformation?
Referring to the tender documents, the area called "Kodra e Gjashtës", where the first-level intervention is focused, needs total systematization in terms of access to the area and the roads are unpaved to have full functionality.
While the creation of the Saranda Tourist Pole, as an Eco-Smart campus, aims to transform the area into an integrated cultural and economic center that combines accommodation, tourism, art, education, culture and community life. The intervention will consist of the rehabilitation of parking lots and roads within the project area, the establishment of additional parking lots, the arrangement of outdoor spaces for the function of the 9-year school, the government building, etc.
Meanwhile, in the second level of the project, the focus is on the development of various cultural and social functions, while the functionality of the government building, namely the government villa, will preserve its historical identity, while being transformed to fulfill contemporary functions. This building will serve as a reference point and a key component for the combination of tradition and modernity.
In Level 3 of the project, the main focus is the creation of a multifunctional space, where the functionality of the 9-year school as an educational institution will function as a proper educational institution, with spaces equipped for the development of the learning process in accordance with contemporary standards. The school will offer modern and adapted teaching environments, including classrooms, laboratories and areas for extracurricular activities. To achieve this transformation, the Albanian Development Fund has estimated a cost of 371.5 million lek.
