How much is the demand for employees in tourism? - Ozuni: Establishing the Tourism Academy is not a solution

The tourism sector in Albania is facing a significant shortage of labor, and as reality has shown, operators are seeking help from international markets. According to Union data, Albanian tourism needs about 30 thousand employees, mainly in the hotel, food services, beaches and tourist transport sectors. But what are the real market demands for employees in this sector?
Ferjolt Ozuni – Tourism Expert:
"What is being discussed recently in the market about the need for labor and human resources in the entire tourism industry, I can say that there is still no real number in terms of direct need and immediate need, in the tourism industry at least with what perceptions we have from the market, we can say that directly, there may be a need for somewhere between 7-10 thousand employees in the entire tourism industry. So that means, for all the actors that besides HORECA, we have transportation that is important, we have tourist guides, we have support activities, which they also need. But directly, in 7-10 thousand maximum we can lead to the right thing for the tourism industry."
One of the demands is the establishment of a Tourism Academy, but how necessary is it and how much will the establishment of a Tourism Academy improve the tourism sector?
Ferjolt Ozuni – Tourism Expert:
"Regarding the creation of a tourism academy, we are used to these names with great pomp. It is not very necessary to build a separate academy for this, because we have also had sensational terms regarding academies, for various activities, but I think that if there is a good investment with strategy and in the financial aspect in the entire industry, in education, then the education industry itself will bring you a prepared, semi-prepared, specialized workforce."
Some of the demands that the Tourist Union has raised are the implementation of insurance outside the tourist season, the establishment of dedicated lines for tourist transport to the coast, increased participation in international fairs and regional promotional activities, etc.
