"The most advanced chips, only in the USA" - Trump bans their export to other countries

US President Donald Trump declared that Nvidia's most advanced artificial intelligence chips will be reserved only for American companies and will not be sent to China or other countries.
In an interview, Trump said that only American customers will have access to the latest Blackwell series chips, which are manufactured by Nvidia, the world's most valuable company by market capitalization.
"We will not give the most advanced chips to anyone other than the United States," Trump said, repeating words he had said earlier during his trip from Florida to Washington.
The statements suggest that his administration could impose stricter restrictions on American artificial intelligence chips than previously anticipated, excluding China and perhaps the rest of the world from access to the most sophisticated semiconductors.
In July, the US government published a new plan for artificial intelligence, aimed at easing environmental regulations and expanding exports to allied countries, to maintain an advantage over China in this strategic field.
Just last week, Nvidia announced that it will supply more than 260,000 Blackwell chips to South Korea, including giant Samsung Electronics.
In the interview, Trump said he would not allow the sale of the most advanced version of the chips to Chinese companies, but did not rule out the possibility of trading a more limited version. “We will allow them to cooperate with Nvidia, but not on the most advanced chips,” he stressed.
