How much should POS terminal commissions be? - Musta: Cash payments cannot be reduced only by limits on their amount
The use of cash payments in Albania has been and remains high compared to other European countries. For this reason, one of the priorities of the Medium-Term Revenue Strategy is to reduce physical cash in the economy by setting a limit on the amount of cash payments, or reducing commissions for POS terminals.
According to professor Eugen Musta, the establishment of such limits should be accompanied by an awareness campaign to encourage citizens to use payment products.
Setting a ceiling on the value of commissions for transactions carried out with POS terminals, as has been done in many other countries, would translate into an increase in the number of terminals by businesses.
The reduction of cash will influence the further formalization of the economy and increase the financial inclusion of individuals.
