How much will the salaries of the administration increase from January 1? -

Public sector employees at the central and local levels will be indexed annually based on inflation. Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that this is a new salary policy, combined with the general increase as a result of the increase in the minimum wage for everyone. According to him, the increase from January 1, 2026 for teachers is 3 thousand lek per month, while for other categories it goes up to 10 thousand lek.

"10,600 service workers, sanitation workers, drivers, technicians, protocol officers, archivists, and warehouse workers will benefit from the increase in the minimum wage by 10,000 new lek per month."

For public administration specialists, the increase will be 5 thousand new lek.

"Teachers will receive a salary increase of 3,000 new lek per month."

Meanwhile, for the first time in the health sector, in addition to annual indexation, the calculation of seniority will also begin.

"Which means on average for general practitioners from 131,700 lek to 143,500 new lek per month. For doctors in hospitals from 174 thousand lek to 186 thousand new lek per month. For nurses from 87 thousand lek to 92,500 lek per month."

Likewise, for state police employees, in addition to indexation, there will be an increase in seniority, which for the lowest ranks translates into an average increase of 5 thousand new lek per month.

"In other words, for an employee with an average seniority of 15 years, salaries increase according to rank as follows: For ordinary inspectors from 80,500 new lek to 84,500 new lek, plus allowances for working conditions and food, which brings the average salary to 100 thousand new lek.

For deputy commissioners, the salary will increase from 95,500 to 101,000 new lek, which with the allowance for working conditions and also for food goes to 116,000 new lek.

For commissioners, from 105 thousand to 110,600, and with the allowance for working conditions, plus food, it goes to 125,600 new lek.

And for ordinary managers, from 130,500, the salary will go to 141,450 new lek, which with the allowance and food becomes an average of 156,450 new lek."

According to the Prime Minister, almost 100 million euros will be added to this policy in the first year of this governing mandate.
