Tirana-Elbasan connecting road/ Traffic, ARRSH prepares tenders with a limit fund of 5.84 billion lek

The Albanian Road Authority has almost made 2 tenders for the construction of the Tirana - Elbasan connecting road with Corridor 8. The project aims to build a segment that starts before reaching the Bradashesh roundabout and ends near the former Metalurgjiku, connecting the highway with Corridor 8.
This new segment aims to ease the traffic that is created at the entrances and exits of the Tirana - Elbasan highway, an extremely problematic segment.
Meanwhile, according to data published by the Public Procurement Agency, the construction will be divided into 2 contracts. The contract for lot I will have a limit fund of 3.34 billion lek, while for lot II, 2.5 billion lek, with a total of 5.84 billion lek.
Earlier, authorities stated that the goal is for this segment to be ready for vehicle traffic by the summer of this year. This is a different segment from the Elbasan bypass, which is an important axis in terms of the movement of citizens and goods, as it connects the two arteries of Corridor 8 that are currently under construction.
The authorities divide the implementation of this project into 3 phases: the phase from Elbasan to the new border exit at the Bushtricë bridge, the Elbasan bypass which is the second phase, and the third phase from Elbasan towards Rrogozhina. The cost of building the Elbasan bypass is estimated at 22.3 billion lekë.
