Ticket price increases by 300 lek after the Librazhd - Pogradec axis is blocked/ Public Transport Association: Don't abuse it, the problem will be solved quickly
The blockade of the Librazhd-Pogradec axis has led to an increase in public transport prices for trips from the southeast to Tirana. Drivers say they are forced to increase the ticket from 700 to 1000 lekë, as the alternative route is longer and more worn out, reducing the number of passengers.
"The cost is too high, I'll increase the price by 3 thousand lek. The vehicles are depreciating, today I'm leaving at 9 am with two people," says a van driver.
A ticket from Korça to Tirana previously cost 700 lek, but has since been increased to 1000 lek. The head of the Public Transport Association, Dashnor Memaj, from SCAN TV, has urged not to abuse the price, although he admits that there is a cost for drivers. According to him, this will be a transitional period and a solution to the traffic will be provided very soon.
Meanwhile, the fruit and vegetable market has also seen price increases, due to higher costs faced by suppliers. "Prices are high, the journey is long and there are costs. Buying has decreased, there are not many people," says a trader.
From an observation, some food products have become more expensive by 10 to 20%.
