As universities prepare to begin enrollment, in a press conference, the rector of the University of Tirana, Artan Hoxha, emphasized that this academic year comes with good news, with a higher number of students than the year before.
"This academic year, there are a higher number than last year, who although in physical numbers are less, as of this year there are 500 more who will address the university entrance exams and that the University of Tirana in particular has selected more young people than last year, both in absolute number of around 160 future students, as well as in study programs, over 1200 programs, of the University of Tirana."
But, to focus on the support policies that the University of Tirana has for students, he emphasized that over 2,600 students benefit from a 100% scholarship, while also mentioning other support for excellent students.
"We have some consolidated programs, in some faculties, that are also growing, such as law, economics, social sciences, history and philology, but we have some programs that are suffering, mainly those of teaching. Regarding the policies that UT follows, for years there have been thousands of students who receive scholarships or support. For this academic year alone, there are 2,668 students who receive a scholarship of 100,000 lek per month, there are about 60 students who benefit from programs that have national interest, 400,000 old lek. As well as according to the policies that have been established between higher education and the Council of Ministers, students of excellence do not pay a study fee, and students who have a grade below 9, pay half the study fee."
