Taxes collect 370 million euros from businesses - 7-month period, income from profit tax increases by 10 million euros
Enterprises in the country have paid a significant amount of tax on accumulated profit, which is recorded at approximately 37 billion lek or 370 million euros in the first 7 months of the year alone.
Official data from the Ministry of Finance show an increase of 10 million euros or 2.9% compared to the same period a year ago, but compared to the planned figure, it results in a decrease of 0.9%.
However, it seems that in July alone, the state budget collected 39 million euros from this item, marking the highest value compared to July of previous years.
If we analyze the 7-month income for the last decade, the tax paid on business profits has had a progressive increase from year to year.
Thus, from 153 million euros in 2015 to 370 million euros in 2025, the growth is recorded at 141%.
This indicates an increase in consumption and turnover by businesses and the resulting profits and taxes paid thereon.
According to tax administration data, there are currently approximately 16,000 enterprises across the country that pay profit tax, as small businesses with a turnover of 0-14 million lek are exempt. The profit tax rate for taxpayers with annual income over 14 million lek is applied at 15% of taxable profit.
This year, a progressive profit tax rate of 15-23% has begun to be applied to the self-employed category, if they have fewer than three clients.
Currently, the Profit Tax accounts for 24.2% of annual tax revenues, ranking third in terms of its weight in the budget, after VAT and Personal Income Tax.
