Rinas Airport records in 2024 3 more flights per hour than in 2023, 75% from

The year 2024 marked a historic record for air transport at Rinas Airport, turning airlines into the center of Albania's international activity.

The increase in the number of foreign visitors, the increase in Albanians' trips abroad for holidays and several other factors have influenced the significant expansion of air traffic. According to official data, around 68,346 aircraft landings and take-offs were recorded last year.

The summer months, traditionally busy for tourism, have marked the peak of this traffic. During the June-July period, around 21 thousand movements were recorded, representing almost a third of the annual total.

Calculations show that on average, there were about 187 aircraft landings and taking offs in a day, while almost 8 flights were carried out every hour. This rate has increased significantly compared to 2023, with an average of 3 more flights per hour.

In terms of market share between airlines, two low-cost companies have clearly dominated by a large margin.

These two companies have operated about 51,000 flights, which accounts for 75% of the annual total. One of them has carried out more than half of the total air transport, having a major impact on the market.

On the other hand, the other 18 companies operating at Rinas Airport have only carried out 8,800 flights, or less than 25% of the total.

This dominance of low-cost airlines reflects a transformation of the Albanian air market, where low prices and flexibility have become decisive factors for travelers.
