How much will the Albanian economy grow in 2025? - The World Bank predicts a slowdown in the pace even next year
The Albanian economy is expected to grow at a slower pace in 2025 and 2026. According to World Bank forecasts, the country is expected to have an economic growth of 3.5% this year and 3.3% next year.
The World Bank uses a different methodology to determine the growth rate of Gross Domestic Product. Forecasts show that from 2022 there has been a slowdown in the country's economic growth, where for 2024 alone, Albania's real GDP growth was estimated at 3.7%.
Since June last year, this institution's forecasts for the performance of the Albanian economy have improved by 0.1% for 2025, but have deteriorated by 0.2% for 2026.
In the Western Balkans region, Kosovo and Serbia are expected to have the highest economic growth. Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia will see their economies improve at almost the same levels as Albania.
Overall, the past year has been positive for the Albanian economy. Inflation fell to 2.2%, while both public and external debt fell to their lowest levels in more than a decade.
The financial environment with low interest rates, together with banks' proactive approach to lending, fueled strong credit growth, which was about 16% higher than in 2023, providing significant support for economic activity.
