Tourism advertising from summits and activities - Kasa: A 15-20% increase in flow is expected, more income than tourists
The year we left behind resulted in 11.7 million foreign citizens visiting Albania and 4.5 billion euros in revenue from the tourism sector.
With the month of May behind us, the country is preparing to welcome even more tourists and generate more revenue than in past seasons.
"We have been constantly on an upward trend and you know this. So year after year there has been an increase that has varied by a coefficient of 15-20%. The first is the discussion with accommodation structures where they have reported more reservations compared to last year." Said Rrahman Kasa, head of the Tourist Union.
International summits, on the one hand, are giving a very important advertisement in terms of tourism development in the country, combining them with activities such as the "Giro d'Italia" or investments in resorts, such as the case of Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, which is making the tourism sector increasingly seen as the new locomotive of the Albanian economy.
"The European Summit was an event that elevates the values of Albania, as were many other events such as the International Economic Forum or Eurovision, where Albania was well represented. The "Giro d'Italia" had over 800 million viewers." Mr. Kasa said, among other things.
With the increase in the number of tourists and a new strategy drafted by the government, the country is now aiming to seek more quality than quantity in the upcoming seasons.
