Rama: Financing SMEs, direct impact on the Albanian economy

Prime Minister Edi Rama today emphasized the importance of the national financing program for small and medium-sized enterprises "Double Your Entrepreneurship", which he described as the engine of the Albanian economy.
Rama was present today at the signing of the new partnership between the state, the banking system and Albanian entrepreneurship within the framework of the "Double Your Entrepreneurship" program.
The State-Bank-Enterprise agreement signed today provides for 250 million euros in low-interest loan support and 30 million euros in sovereign guarantees for the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Prime Minister informed that he has requested from the President of the European Investment Bank that the agreement that was signed yesterday with Intesa Sanpaolo bank be expanded to other second-tier banks.
Rama assessed that this is an agreement that goes directly to financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are the engine of our economy and which today have extraordinary potential within them.
"I have seen a number of small enterprises based on the experience of Albanians returning from emigration, based on the innovative spirit, on the will to do something significant in the communities and to employ the family and the people around them, which have been extraordinary and touching experiences. Experiences that have clearly shown me that with reasonable financial support, those enterprises and those realities can grow and bring meaningful new things to our economy," said Rama.
The Prime Minister emphasized that it is not only the experience of those who have returned, but also of those who have worked here and today are ready to take another step.
"The problem has been accessible and reasonable financing, which they cannot afford to take the next step. That is how this project was born, which was initially dedicated to agriculture and from which we learned our lessons together," said Rama.
The Prime Minister emphasized that today this is a project that has become a very serious government support program for all small and medium-sized enterprises.
Rama assured that within a very short time after the signing, the program will be implemented. "A program that opens a door for everyone to double their entrepreneurship, of course based on the business plan," said Rama.
