Investments in drainage and irrigation continue/MARDZH: Works on the K-1 canal in Kurbin are completed
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continues investments in the irrigation and drainage system throughout the country, both for the construction of new works and for the rehabilitation and cleaning of existing ones.
These interventions aim to guarantee the sustainable functioning of the systems, responding to the needs for irrigation in agriculture during the dry season, but also for land drainage during periods of intense rainfall.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, announced that teams from the Irrigation and Drainage Directorate are currently on the ground and have completed work on the K-1 drainage canal in the municipality of Kurbin.
Salla shared moments from the work currently being carried out on this irrigation project on social media, as he announced that, "with a length of 7.8 km, the displacement of about 25 thousand m³ of soil improves the drainage of over 1500 ha of agricultural land and residential areas."
"These investments are essential for increasing agricultural productivity and protecting lands from flooding, guaranteeing better conditions for farmers across the country," said Salla.
