The government "overturns" the amendment for the living minimum - "There is no clear methodology for its calculation"
After the proposal by the Democratic Party of the amendment related to the vital minimum in the state budget for 2025, there was a reaction from the government, which rejected this proposal.
The government argues that there is no clear methodology for calculating the living wage and that it has not been analyzed in detail whether this level would meet real needs.
The Council of Ministers emphasized that the state budget allocates 33% of expenditures for social schemes, a percentage that is in line with the standards of other countries in the region.
Likewise, the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs assessed the proposal as incorrect, emphasizing that it does not include all categories of persons with disabilities and beneficiaries of social security abroad.
She also called the methodology used to calculate the living wage unclear.
Meanwhile, when asked about this issue, Kolindo Vjerdha from "Civic Attitude" gave his opinion on setting the living minimum.
The deputies of the Democratic Party, who tabled this amendment in the Assembly, emphasized that Albania is the only country without a vital minimum, which will provide income for the purchase of food and minimum services for citizens.
