National Program for Artificial Intelligence - Rama: The sector exports 222 million euros of products

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that the technology sector exports 222 million euros of products, or three times more than just a short time ago.
Prime Minister Rama was present today at the Second Innovation Forum, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and the development of the technology sector in Albania.
Initially, the Prime Minister brought to attention the advantages that information technology creates in economic development.
According to him, the government is preparing a national program for artificial intelligence, where everyone will have the opportunity to have their say.
"We are aware that all the topics of discussion, like in no other field, are in an extraordinary dynamic, which on the one hand is a great blessing for countries like ours, because we make breakthroughs thanks to technology, and on the other hand it is a constant alarm signal. Alarm because we can go far backwards if we do not move with the pace of this new time," said Rama.
Rama demanded that this interaction should take into account real problems, which means solutions based on a complete knowledge and the most accurate diagnosis of the real situation.
"Second, we need concrete, implementable proposals, not general wishes, and third, a willingness to engage together," Rama added, addressing the entrepreneurs present at this forum.
Rama also shared some interesting data, which, according to him, show the extraordinary dynamics of the sector.
"Today the technology sector exports 222 million euros of products, or three times more than just a short time ago. Today, almost 30 thousand technology professionals are active in this sector. To be precise, there are 28,500, but it is a figure that has changed within this year," Rama added.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that there is a very significant increase in wages in this sector. On the other hand, Rama emphasized that in the Gross National Product of Albania, the sector now has a readable weight of 2.2%, while until yesterday it was negligible. It should be higher, without question, but it is a meaningful figure for the country's potential", Rama added.
