Bill C.1916, on the social security agreement between Italy and Albania, has been approved by the Chamber of Deputies. After 2 months of deadlock for this process, this step has been evaluated by the "Diaspora 91-19" association. Now the next step continues in the Senate.

This agreement benefits about 500,000 Albanian immigrant citizens who live and work in the neighboring country and about 4,000 Italians who have a residence permit in Albania, in addition to those who have businesses.
Based on this agreement, Albanian citizens living in Italy or Italians living in Albania benefit from the mandatory General Insurance for disability, old-age and family pensions of employed workers, special treatment for self-employed workers such as artisans, traders, farmers and sickness benefit insurance, including tuberculosis and childbirth, as well as unemployment insurance.
With the entry into force of the agreement, people who are on the verge of retirement must apply to the respective Social Security Institute (Albanians in Italy and Italians in Albania), making it possible to receive two pensions, according to the years of work that contributed
