Minister Hoxha inspects IdentiTek/Innovations of the process.- The time of

The time to provide identification documents for Albanian citizens living abroad will be halved. This was confirmed by the Administrator of the state document production company IdentiTek, during a visit that the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, made to the company's premises. The second innovation is the provision of opportunities for application through mobile offices in the cities where they live.

"IdentiTek has taken two very important initiatives in this regard, the first is to halve the time it will take us to produce these identification documents. We have developed a new technological module, which will be at the service of citizens starting from this month, which cuts the necessary time in half. So, our diaspora citizens will be able to get identification documents no longer in 30 days, but in 15 days. In addition, we have started the processes to visit the embassies and consulates with the highest flow of the diaspora to make sure that every process goes smoothly as well as to anticipate any problems we may have in the future. explained the Administrator of IdentiTek, Freskida Halilaj.

The minister said that for the first time the elections are being organized for the diaspora. He added that the May 11 elections are approaching and all capacities must be organized to facilitate the entire regime of application and production of passports and identity cards.

"One of the most important processes is the application of Albanian citizens to the consulates wherever they are, regarding the equipment with identity cards and passports. "IdentiTek is at the head of this process, which it directs through its operational groups by sending these groups to the consulates and embassies of our country for an application and to facilitate this regime," the Minister emphasized.

"We started in November with the corresponding visits to Germany, Italy, Greece, and we have planned, starting from January and in the following months, visits to the embassies and consulates of other countries, including the United States of America and Turkey. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we will plan the movements, 'Mobile Applications', as we call them; so we send a dedicated group from IdentiTek from the head office, we send them to these specific countries on specific dates, and our citizens abroad can have the opportunity to apply beyond embassies and consulates, because there are also countries that we have requests for applications, but not we currently have an embassy or a consulate. So we will address these requests by sending the dedicated groups", informed the Administrator.

Measures have also been taken in terms of human resources, to work at full capacity and anticipate the influx expected in the upcoming electoral process. The full production capacity is 6,000 thousand passports and 15,000 thousand identity cards per day.

"Together with the Administrator of IdentiTek, we visited the production area of IdentiTek where everything is currently organized to facilitate the procedures. Together with Freskida, we made a visit to all departments where identity cards and biometric passports are produced. The Ministry of the Interior and IdentiTek are jointly at the head of this process, making it possible to facilitate the application of our citizens in the electoral process of 2025, but also in the process of voting and applying the vote of the diaspora at foreign embassies and consulates". Minister Hoxha declared during the visit.

The administrator stated that also because of the election process, they are engaged to undertake initiatives, which facilitate this very important process.

"During the months of October, IdentiTek made a very important change for citizens living abroad, separating the application for electronic ID, not necessarily requiring the application for a biometric passport. This has a wide impact on our citizens, because it has significantly reduced costs. As an innovation, it has been very important as well as challenging, because we had to change technical processes in our systems, but also to adapt operations very quickly, but taking into account very clear instructions from your side, as well the broad and positive impact it has had on our citizens abroad", underlined Halilaj.

"IdentiTek has been involved in this process. "Starting from the month of December, it has also collaborated closely with the Central Election Commission to identify citizens in real time when they will be registered in the Electronic Registration Platform," said the head of IdentiTek.
