The price of energy is reduced for 880,000 families. New scheme for the consumption of up to 700 kWh/month. Affected are those who pay up to 8,000 ALL/month

Starting from February 1, all families who currently pay a monthly electricity bill of no higher than 8,000 Lek will benefit from the reduction in the price of energy. The Energy Regulatory Authority approved the new tariffs, determining that consumption up to 700 kWh/month will be paid at 8.5 Lek/kWh, without VAT or 10.2 Lek/kWh, with VAT.
Currently, families paid for energy at 9.5 ALL/kWh, excluding VAT, which means that the reduction is about 11%. Meanwhile, the billing scheme does not change for households that consume over 700 kWh/month, which will continue to pay for all the energy consumed at the current price.
"Family consumers who consume 701 kWh per month and beyond for the entire amount consumed, starting from the first kilowatt, the price of active energy will be 9.5 ALL/kWh", said Romir Saraçi from the Energy Regulatory Authority.
According to the head of the Energy Regulatory Entity, Petrit Ahmeti, about 80% of family subscribers benefit from the reduction in the price of energy.
"The share of the category of consumers who go up to 700 kWh/month is almost 80%, which represents a relatively large amount of consumers, so it covers the majority of family consumers", said Ahmeti.
There are currently about 1.1 million family subscribers, which means that the number of beneficiary families is about 880 thousand. Meanwhile, the application of the new charging scheme may lead to an expansion of this number, due to the incentive to save.
"This causes the rest of the consumers to use electricity more efficiently, so that they can enter this type of consumption that will be treated with a differentiated price", - said Ahmeti.
For other categories of subscribers, such as businesses, bakeries or budgetary and non-budgetary institutions, the price of energy remains unchanged.
