Salaries, 1,200 businesses are checked in December Taxes: 78% increased

The action against informality in wages continued throughout December and included the control of 1,197 businesses throughout the country. This operation aims to sensitize and make taxpayers aware of the importance of declaring real wages.

From these checks, the tax department reports that 78% of businesses or 936 of them have reacted positively by changing their salary declarations. On the other hand, measures were taken by the tax administration for violations of tax legislation, where subjects were fined with administrative measures in the amount of 6.1 million ALL.

The General Directorate of Taxes emphasizes that specialized investigation and control structures will continue investigations against individuals who do not declare real salaries. According to taxes, declaring the real salary is a legal obligation and an important step towards guaranteeing fiscal equality and formalizing the labor market.

On October 1, the Tax Administration sent a general notice to 130,000 taxpayers in the Republic of Albania, registered until the end of September 2024.

As a result of this campaign, 9,000 taxpayers have reacted positively by reflecting on their payroll statements, after the first announcement of the Tax Administration, increasing the declared salary fund by a total of 1.25 billion ALL.

After the results obtained from the analysis of all the payrolls declared in October 2024, the Tax Administration has identified 37,331 taxpayers at risk in the field of informality of wages, those who, despite the first notification, did not react. Another personalized notification was sent to this category, to give businesses the second and last chance to react, and in turn were targeted as objects of control and monitoring.
