Over 67 thousand farmers "secure" the money - 14 million additional

1.4 billion additional lek has been received by the Ministry of Agriculture from the government through the recently approved normative act in order to cover all the requirements of the applicants who meet the criteria of benefit for the support measures for 2024.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, with the normative act of the end of the year, the support for agriculture and livestock reaches a total of 5.2 billion lek or 52 million euros.

The number of total beneficiaries of this financing for the agricultural sector will be 67,100 farmers, where 52,195 of them benefit from oil and 100% will be disbursed.

Meanwhile, 14,905 farmers benefit from the other 7 support measures.

Specifically, the highest number of qualified farmers belongs to support for livestock, for the basic herd matriculated, small and cattle. Beekeeping has also had very high interest, meanwhile, as a measure introduced for the first time, it seems that there has been increased interest in medicinal plants, as well as the support measure for greenhouses. For the support measure for organic farms and for global GAP certification, interest has been lower.

Referring to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, this year the National Agricultural Support Scheme registered a total number of 71,537 applications, of which 54,255 were for oil support and 17,282 farmers interested in benefiting from the support measures, where 21 of them were Agricultural Cooperative Societies and 1,685 farmer groups.

The detailed data show that the Fier district, where agriculture is more developed, is the one that leads in terms of the number of applicants and beneficiaries, followed by the Districts of Korça, Berat, Shkodra, Elbasan and Vlora.

For the third year in a row, through the revision of the budget at the end of the year, the government has been able to provide 100% payments to qualified farmers of the direct National Scheme.
