OSHEE forgives 2.5 million euros in late interest - Over 4 thousand agreements in 2026, almost 69% of clients repay the debt immediately
Around 2.5 million euros in late payment interest have been reduced during 2026 for household customers and businesses that have chosen to immediately settle their outstanding obligations to the Electricity Distribution Operator. According to the company's data, 4,095 agreements have been concluded with the Universal Service Provider so far, while 2,818 of them, or 68.8%, have ended with the settlement of the entire obligation in a single installment.
The majority of the agreements belong to family clients. A total of 2,893 agreements have been concluded for this category, of which 1,928 have chosen immediate payment, benefiting from a 70% reduction in late payment interest. Meanwhile, 965 family members have chosen to settle their obligations through installment payments.
For non-family categories, 1,202 agreements have been signed, which include budgetary and non-budgetary clients, as well as small and large businesses. The scheme includes obligations created until the end of 2024, while for categories in need, obligations created during 2025 may also be included.
For budget and non-budgetary clients, the number of installments is determined according to the amount of debt. The term starts from 24 installments for liabilities from 100-500 thousand lek and reaches up to 120 installments for debts over 10 million lek. Even for these categories, it is required that no new liabilities have been created during the period 2025–2026.
A special scheme also applies to corrective, summary or systematization invoices, as well as to cases related to the dismantling or testing of meters. These obligations can be repaid in up to 24 installments. Meanwhile, the reduction in late payment interest varies by category. Households benefit from a 70% reduction, non-household, budgetary and non-budgetary customers from 50%, while small businesses benefit from a full forgiveness of late payment interest if they repay the entire obligation immediately.
