''The obligation to verify the facts should not be excluded''/ Rama: Government committed to the best of Albania, nature, Zvërnec and flamingos

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted today to the protests against the investment in Zvërnec. In his weekly remarks, the Prime Minister said that the government has focused on protecting nature, protected areas, the fight against illegal hunting and deforestation, while calling on citizens to verify the facts before engaging in debates or protests.
"That's why even today there are many people who come out to protest with sincere convictions, like here not far from where I'm speaking, people who sincerely think that by coming out to protest they are protecting nature, they are protecting flamingos, they are protecting a treasure that belongs to everyone. Everything is noble and legitimate and deserves a lot of respect as a goal, but are they protecting them from whom? Are they protecting them from me, are they protecting them from us? Because nature, the protection of nature, protected areas, the ban on illegal hunting, the ban on deforestation, we have had the leitmotif and we have the leitmotif of our work. And that's why, simply, my call is that, with respect for the motive, the obligation to verify the facts should not be excluded. Because when emotion is fed by half-truths, by images taken out of context, by slogans that circulate faster than evidence, by an algorithm that always rewards what shocks, not what explains, then idealism, "The sincere desire, the need to express oneself in a community, turns into an instrument, an instrument in the hands of those who have completely different interests," said Rama.
He added that the project that has sparked debates is still in the development phase and that the discussion should focus on improving it, not opposing it without fully understanding its content. Rama said that the government remains committed to doing the best for Albania, nature, Zvërnec and the flamingos, demanding that the public debate be based on facts and not perceptions created by false narratives.
"I am here, we are here to do together the best for Albania, for nature, for Zvërnec, for flamingos, but to cooperate with reality, not outside of reality. To share the facts together and not to fly into a territory where facts have no value. And above all to discuss a project, which is not yet ready and to deal with how the project can become as excellent as possible and not to overthrow it, while it is still in the process of being born," said Rama.
