Undeclared workers in tourism are "targeted" - Tax Plan/ No more

The tax administration will focus this tourist season, in addition to the real declaration of salaries according to the reference set by this institution, also on increasing the number of employees declared by entities in the tourism sector, through accurate identification of the workforce and the real declaration of employment relationships.

Referring to the 2025 tourism sector plan, all categories of businesses operating during the tourism season, such as accommodation structures, bars, restaurants, agritourism, beach services, car and facility rentals, will be the focus of controls for undeclared work through risk analysis.

It also aims to reduce the number of taxpayers who declare themselves as minimum wage employees, through analysis of employment categories and comparison with real labor market data.

Another goal of the tax administration is to increase the number of taxpayers declaring VAT liability in tourism, with a tax rate of 6%, where the objective is a 20% increase in the number of taxpayers and a 20% increase in revenues from the tourism sector.

It is also aimed to increase the number of taxpayers declaring VAT in tourism (Accommodation, Bars-Restaurants) that have a standard VAT rate, where the objective is a 10% increase in the number of taxpayers.

The taxes aim to formalize the tourism sector, by reducing the number of unregistered or registered entities and are passive entities that carry out economic activity irregularly.

The registration of taxpayers who engage in tourism activities for VAT liability, based on real data such as turnover, number of rooms and number of employees, will be another focus of this plan.
