Godfathers in Shëngjin: Lezha a positive model in beach management, the challenge is the increase in flows!
The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, continued her inspections in coastal municipalities today, stopping in the municipality of Shëngjin.
Accompanied by the Mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, Minister Kumbaro was informed about the management of the coastline, while stating that " with the new regulation we have increased the mandatory surface area of beaches, 30% and 100 meters of public beach in every kilometer of coastline."
Kumbaro also announced that " this year, municipalities have added public spaces to the maps made in September, because from this year we only give the opportunity for private beaches to entities that have a hotel."
"Sun loungers and umbrellas cannot be the main business. In the calculations we are doing now, about 50% of the beaches at the national level are public. In some municipalities like Shkodra, it goes over 60%. From year to year we also improve public service, whether from the municipality or from the National Coastal Agency with which we have doubled our forces to clean the beach line along the entire coast, with the exception of the municipality of Lezha which has created its own model of beach maintenance and cleaning", emphasized Kumbaro.
The Mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, explained the public management model of some of the beaches by the municipality.
"The municipality has set up tents for all vacationers who wish to use sunbeds for an affordable fee and by cutting the tax coupon, in addition to public spaces for vacationers who have their own tents ," he said.
Kumbaro also met with representatives of the Lezha Police, where he assessed communication and cooperation as very important for the smooth running and safety of the tourist season.
"We will need the support of the State Police, especially in two aspects, the occupation of beaches and the challenge of cleanliness. Anyone who violates the rules for environmental maintenance, in addition to the municipal police for applying fines, warnings and even closing the business, we will also have the State Police on our side because this is the year with the highest tourist influx we have ever had ," she said.
