In July, 1.3 million passengers traveled by air - The main destinations were Italian cities such as Milan and Rome
On a typical day in the second month of summer, nearly 43,000 passengers passed through Tirana Airport, arriving or departing for a new destination. According to data published by TIA, during the month of July alone, 1.28 million passengers used the capital's airport for travel.
A total of 7,738 flights were operated during this period, which translates into an average of around 258 aircraft landing or taking off from the Tirana airport runway every day. This has enabled Albanian citizens and foreign tourists to travel to 110 different destinations in 32 countries, with three new airline routes added in July: Nantes, Bordeaux and Lisbon.
The most popular destinations remained Italian cities such as Milan, Rome and Bologna, while a large volume of travelers was also registered towards the British capital, London, and the Austrian capital, Vienna.
July also brought another record for Albania: flights increased by 152% compared to the pre-pandemic period. With this performance, our country ranked first in all of Europe and the leader in the Balkans for air traffic growth rates. In the region, Albania is followed by Serbia with an increase of 34%, North Macedonia with 13% and Montenegro with only 5%.
