In Himara, rural infrastructure priority - 200 million lek tender for the Athal road
Himara Municipality has announced the opening of the tender for the reconstruction of the Athal road. The limit fund made available for this project is 200 million lekë. The Athal road has a total length of 3.24 km and is designed with an asphalt width of 4.0 m and a side shoulder. This is a category F road, a local rural road.
According to the document published by the Public Procurement Agency, the main roads in Himara are generally paved and in good condition, while many secondary and rural roads remain unpaved or are in need of repairs.
These unpaved roads can be challenging, especially during inclement weather. The city’s infrastructure development plans prioritize the improvement of these roads to improve accessibility and safety for residents and visitors. Improving the road network is essential to supporting tourism and local economic activities, the document states.
Many smaller roads leading to villages and remote areas are narrow and lack proper pavement, which can hinder transportation and logistics. Himara's road infrastructure is important for connecting its beaches and cultural sites.
According to the document, these improvements are expected to increase tourism, facilitate local travel, and support economic development by providing better access to markets and services.
