Lighting with recycled materials - Architecture students create art objects

Students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, but not only, but also students from Kosovo and North Macedonia, have participated in a creative challenge to build an urban light fixture, which will be an object of art and function, but using recycled materials.

Armand Vokshi, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning:

"The main goal was for students, citizens, and various faculties to address the topic of recycling, which is a very pressing topic today."

Year after year, similar initiatives complement the mosaic of ideas and creativity from young people.

Joana Korimi, Acrem Marketing Director:

"In fact, as I was coming here today, a simple reflection crossed my mind, that life is truly beautiful when there is light. And your creations here have brought light. And they show us that recycling is not just in process, but is progress."

This competition is considered international among Albanian students, due to the participation and interest of students from North Macedonia and Kosovo.

Florian Nepravishta, Deputy Dean:

“The course has achieved its goal, and we see quite a lot of interesting work. So it was difficult to evaluate a bunch of works, which have recycling as their basis. But in itself, each of the works had a point of view in each group.”

This initiative comes thanks to the collaboration of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, the B4Studentes program, TEG and with the support of the Mane Foundation, as part of their commitment to supporting education, creativity and sustainable development in our country.

The public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite work at the TEG premises, via a QR code placed on each of the works. The votes received represented 30% of the final evaluation, making the public an active part of this project.
