African plague affects pigs in Lezha - Veterinary Authority: We are monitoring

After the confirmation of African swine fever in Malin e Renci, the National Veterinary Authority has continued monitoring the perimeter areas 3 and 10 km from the confirmed outbreak of this disease.

It was the chairman of the association of the Albanian Veterinary Order, Ervin Resuli, who raised this alarm, where after the findings in Malin e Renci, 200 meters from the first outbreak, 9 more dead pigs were found, which were burned and then buried, while the area it is disinfected.

The National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority announces that 200 informative and awareness-raising posters have been distributed in the protection and surveillance areas.

Similarly, during the rigorous monitoring and inventory of the condition of the animals, 64 domestic pigs were identified and registered. According to the information, it is announced that the Regional Veterinary Service has sent verification and control groups to take measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Also, it is announced that no new cases or clinical signs have been recorded in animals in the controlled areas. African swine fever (ASF) is a contagious viral disease that causes hemorrhagic fever in domestic and wild pigs. According to scientific findings, this disease is not transmitted to humans.
