The reduction in the price of electricity will start from February 1. On Tuesday, the Energy Regulatory Body will start reviewing the application for the Retail price for Universal Service Customers for the period February 1 - December 31, 2025 to determine the new rate level. Meanwhile, official sources told TV SCAN that the price reduction will only affect the category of family consumers, which means that there will be no changes for businesses, budgetary and non-budgetary institutions or bakeries.
The current price that Albanian families pay for energy is 9.5 Lek, without VAT or 11.4 Lek, with VAT. Meanwhile, the application filed by the Electricity Distribution Operator has not been made public, not providing information on the new price level requested by this department.
The change in tariffs that households pay for electricity was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Bleinda Balluku, who added that the decision is based on the positive performance of public energy companies.
