Euro "removes" Albania from Kosovo?! Imports, the "stick" of

In recent years, Albania and Kosovo have recognized a strengthening of economic cooperation through signed agreements. Kosovo is turning into a very important market for Albanian goods, but also the opposite. Referring to foreign trade data from the "Statistics Agency of Kosovo", it seems that Albania has "defeated" the countries of the region as Kosovo's main trading partner.

The government of Kosovo imposed a ban on products from Serbia and as a result, the value of imports from Serbia has decreased and it seems that it has also influenced the increase in imports from Albania and other countries, at a time when North Macedonia ranks second.

"Scan Intel" has carried out a detailed analysis of trade exchanges between Albania and Kosovo to see how the progress has been. Throughout the eleven months of 2024, trade exchanges between the two countries reached the value of 48.65 billion ALL, from 48.3 billion in the same period a year ago. The main impetus for this increase has been Albania's imports with Kosovo, which are estimated at around 14.45 billion ALL, from 10.61 billion ALL in 2023. So, from the data, a significant increase in imports can be seen.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, exports throughout eleven months with Kosovo fell by 9.3%. They are estimated at around 34.2 billion ALL, from 37.7 billion in 2023. The fall of the euro has caused the country's exports to depreciate throughout 2024, marking a total decrease of almost 14%.

According to historical data, trade exchanges between the two countries reached a record in 2022 and 2021, which clearly shows the support of the two countries during the crisis period. Meanwhile, in 2023, the exchanges were presented with a decline.
