Milot – Thumanë, towards the start of works - The project allows a speed of 140 km/h, an alternative road of 13.8 km with free passage
The company "G2 Blu", holder of the concession for the construction of the Milot - Thumanë road axis, is advancing with obtaining the necessary permits to start the works, as it has recently applied to the National Environment Agency to be equipped with the relevant environmental permit. According to data from the NEA, the company has been asked to draft an in-depth Environmental Impact Assessment Report and submit it together with the public hearing, which is a prerequisite according to the legislation in force.
Meanwhile, the documents presented by the concessionaire also provide details of the project, which is part of the Adriatic-Ionian highway.
The road segment starts in Milot and connects to the next section Thumanë – Kashar. The existing road built in 2008 - 2010 will serve as the project route, but in the areas where interventions will be carried out, such as interchanges and secondary connecting roads, the project corridor will be widened and added. The main goal is the rehabilitation of the existing road and its conversion into a Category A1 motorway. The total length of the road where interventions will be made is about 12.5 km, while the designed speed is 90 - 140 km/h, but with speed limit signs for 130 km/h, as the maximum allowed speed.
Part of the project is also the construction of an alternative road, which will serve as an optional toll-free road for the community. The length of the alternative road will be 13.8 km, and it will be of category C3. This road will start at the Laç junction and end at the connecting junction between Thumanë and the Fushë Krujë – Thumanë road.
The project also foresees the construction of 7.32 km of secondary roads to enable community communication in different parts of the project area and between areas.
The project will be implemented by the temporary merger of the companies, "Gener 2", "Illyrian Consulting Engineers" and "IDK - Konstruksion".
