253.16 MW of solar energy are licensed - Energy production from photovoltaic plants, 16 new licenses during 2024
The year 2024 has marked developments in terms of the licenses granted for the production of energy from the sun and the capacity that is expected to be installed by the construction of parks. According to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority, processed by TV SCAN, 16 companies have been licensed this year, while the total capacity for their projects is 253.14 MW.
This number of licenses has exceeded that of the last 2 years, which were characterized by an increase in the number of companies licensed in the production of electricity from the sun.
This, given that during 2023, 9 licenses were granted for a total capacity of 102 MW, while during 2022, 15 companies were licensed for projects with an estimated installed capacity of 225,143 MW. The first licenses for solar energy production were granted in 2018, while currently there are 52 companies.
The granting of these permits takes on a special importance in terms of diversification of energy production sources, given that currently the country is significantly dependent on water energy.
