"Army" of 36,000 employees is added to agriculture - 3-year priorities / "Made in Albania" exports, increase by 40 million euros in 2026
The development of the agricultural and rural sector through the support of farmers is considered a priority during the three-year period 2025-2027. The government has approved the mid-term budget for this period, where it is emphasized that the aim of the agricultural sector is to improve the economic performance and living conditions of farmers, as well as the preparation of this sector for EU membership.
Despite the fact that we are facing the depopulation of the villages, the government foresees that through the support provided, during the year 2026 in relation to the year 2025, an "army" of 36 thousand employees will be added to the Albanian agriculture. Specifically, it is predicted that the number of employees in the village will jump from about 459,000 employees in 2025 to about 495,000 in 2026.
Likewise, another ambition is to increase the level of exports of "Made in Albania" agricultural products and agro-processing. During 2025, it is intended that exports reach a value of 55.8 billion ALL, while in 2026 the figure is targeted at 59.7 billion ALL, with an increase of 3.9 billion ALL.
On the other hand, it is expected to increase the number of farmers benefiting from the agricultural subsidy scheme to 14,000 in 2027 and 33,000 from the oil scheme, it is also expected to increase the number of certifications and tests of seeds and seedlings that are put on the market to ensure quality inputs for agriculture in the Albanian market.
The total budget for the Ministry of Agriculture for the next three years is predicted with a slight progressive increase, where in 2027 the maximum value will be 15.9 billion ALL.
