The budget review sets the fund for pensioners - Muço: Indexation based on basket inflation is needed
The government is expected to soon review the budget for 2024, where due to the good performance in income, the funds will be reallocated, creating a special "pocket" for the spring bonus for retirees.
In an interview for SCAN, the economy expert, Klodian Muço, says that in addition to the bonus, pensioners need real pension indexation.
"The bonus is not a solution, pensioners need increases, sensitive indexation that takes into account the consumption basket and not the general inflation".
On the other hand, he emphasizes that the reallocation of funds should be focused on sectors that have not been treated adequately this year.
"The sectors that have suffered the most during 2024 are agriculture and industry, and the focus should be on these sectors. So is health. This money should go in this direction and improve services in hospitals".
It has now become an annual practice that, based on the performance of the economy, the government reviews the budget at the end of the year, focusing mainly on reallocating funds to better performing projects.
